Raising quality high-altitude cattle for generations in Chaffee County. Respecting and embracing the future and the past.

Salida Cattle Company raises quality high-altitude cattle. Not every cow will work with a base elevation of 7,000 feet. Not every cow that works at 7,000 feet is one you’d be proud of to have in your herd. At Salida Cattle Company we are always striving to consistently raise eye appealing, efficient, long lived cows, that raise great calves in the challenging environment. The heard is predominantly Hereford/Angus cross. We buy good bulls- low PAPs, eye appealing, with enough growth to raise good calves that will make stockers money.

Those good cattle also make great steaks and hamburger. We raise a handful of grass fed and corn finished animals. These animals spend the majority of time either eating grass, when it's green, or hay raised by Susie's family. We finish for 30-90 days with a few pounds of corn as supplement to their grass and/or hay ration. We finish our animals this way as we feel it tastes the best.

Salida Cattle Company is owned and operated by Susie and Tyson Evans with the help of their son, Calvin, and daughter, Lilly.
